Pictured below is what appears to be an original, unmodified shipping
crate circa 1920’s. Like others we’ve seen, it appears to be made from
knotty eastern white pine, nailed. Observe the use of tongue and groove
joints to join the individual pieces of which the lid and sides are
made.
